Border News - Week 51, 2022

Dear Border Church Family,

This week we are in our regular venue at the CWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta (next to the Pink Hotel). Parking is available on Griffith and Boundary streets and Marine Pde.

If you know people whose churches are going to be closed for Christmas and/or New Year please invite them to Border Church this week and next for fellowship.

If you are travelling this holiday season please be safe on the roads. Our prayers are going up for everyone who is going places. If anyone is not going to have anywhere to celebrate Christmas or wishes to open their home to someone this Christmas for a fellowship meal please let us know.

Border Church this week

As it is Christmas Eve this Saturday, we will be having the first half of our program as a solid worship hour focusing on songs relating to the coming of Jesus to this world. Come and get your carols on. If you want to learn the songs we will be singing, they can be found further down in this newsletter.

For our main study, I will be continuing our series on John 3:16. This is proving to be incredibly relevant to the Christmas season and we have been seeing some deep insights into this well-known verse. This week's study is "Whosoever..." You can catch the previous two installments of this series in the playlist below:

We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. This week we will be having an early Christmas lunch. Bring your favourite foods and deserts. I will be making my famous pizzas. We look forward to spending this family time with you.

News

This past Sunday we had the second combined worship service and the number of attendees grew. I can see God about to work in our community in a massive way. I felt the darkness tremble. There is a mighty coming together and 2023 is going to be a big year for God's Kingdom in this region.

Juice 107.3 Border Church Christmas Message

Today I recorded a radio program for Juice 107.3 that will play in the new year for their show The Punchline. I had an amazing conversation with Anglican Priest Jim Raistrick from Southport Anglican and Pastor Marshall Gray from Gold Coast Chapel Church. We will be discussing "Denominational differences: Why are they important, why aren't they, what are the distinctive differences, and what is sheep stealing?" This was a fascinating program and it was a great opportunity to be a part of the conversation in this region.

This weekend

The next few evenings you can be blessed by lighs display, interactive fun and free hot chocolate(!!!) at the Hub Baptist Church in Corporation Circuit from 7:30-9pm NSW time. Then on Saturday evening, Christmas Eve, there is a Christmas Eve Festival from 5pm-9pm NSW time where you can have free food and drinks, games and carols. This sounds like a great way to spend Christmas Eve to me!

Regular programing

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this.

We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus, please let us know.

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.
