Dear Border Church Family,

This week we are in our regular venue at the CWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta (next to the Pink Hotel). Parking is available on Griffith and Boundary streets and Marine Pde. There is also parking under or next to Twin Towns if it is really busy on the street.

Border Church this week

This week in our discipleship segment we continue looking at the harvest model for disciple-making. This is based on the Parable of the Sower in Mark 4. We are going to jump right into it and we will need to start on time, so please aim to be there at 10:30am NSW, 9:30am QLD. As it is the last week of holidays for many, I recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to get a park.

Our new series on "Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence" continues this week with a look at Jesus' life of prayer. If you have any favourite prayers from the Bible, please let us know and we will consider them for this series. You can watch the first study in this series on the link below.

We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. This week we will be nachos/haystacks and all are welcome to join us. We look forward to spending this family time with you.

This Weekend

This Saturday night, friend of Border Church, Paul Colman, will be playing in Springwood at the Springwood Adventist Church. He has allocated a weekend in June for us to organise concerts for him on the Gold Coast and Tweed, but if you want to hear him sooner, you can make a quick trek to South Brisbane for that this weekend.

Our first Sunday Funday is this weekend. It will be a BYO Brunch and you can enjoy pool, spa, sauna, slide, putt-putt or beach. The location is at Royal Palms Resort at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast Highway. Plan to arrive between 8:30-11:30am QLD time but you are welcome to stay longer. See the poster below for more details.

On Sunday afternoon, our sister Church at King Jesus is having a special testimony by Pastor Naomi Pryor-Stacey will be sharing her personal testimony coming out of witchcraft. Naomi is a powerful preacher and I know her testimony demonstrates the power of God to break the heaviest chains. This will be at 2pm QLD time at King Jesus Church, Tugun Community Centre.

This Sunday evening at 8pm QLD time (9pm NSW time), make sure to tune into Juice 107.3 for The Punchline. Hosted by Jim Raistrick from Southport Anglican Church, this show is a sort of panel discussion or podcast where he and guest ministers discuss relevant and contemporary issues. In December, I was one of the guests alongside Jim and Pastor Marshall Gray from Gold Coast Chapel discussing the topic of "Denominatinoal Differences" and this will be the first episode of season 2 of the show, airing on Sunday night. If you cannot pick up the station where you live, you can listen live online and check out the back-catalogue of shows at the link below:

(Because I didn't totally bomb my first appearance, in a couple of weeks I have been invited back to record another show on the topic of Biblical food laws and health and am really looking forward to another robust discussion.)

News and Upcoming events

We have just received 2000 bookmarks we have designed with prompts on how to have your own Discovery Bible Reading group and how to pray conversationally. If you would like to get some of these, please let us know and we will send them to you if you live too far away to pick them up.

King Jesus Church is having a prayer and worship on Friday February 3rd at 6:30pm-7:30pm Qld time at the Tugun Community Centre.

Our next Church in the Park is scheduled for Saturday February 4th, weather permitting. We will be blessed with an amazing series of testimonies from one of our regulars in lieu of our discipleship course when we have Church in the Park.

We will be finding out the sex of our baby in the coming weeks and will be having a reveal of both gender and name after Church on Saturday February 11 during lunch. If you want to be introduced to the baby currently known as "Bump" you can do so then. NOTE - This is cancelled until further notice as our new child was uncooperative in the ultrasound and would not position themselves where the sex could be determined. We will advise a new time for the reveal after we have another ultrasound in a few weeks.

On February 18th we will be hosting a combined Churches service with Living Waters Church, Kingdom Life Church and King Jesus Church and any other Churches that would like to participate. Naomi from King Jesus Church will be preaching and I am so excited to hear what she has to share.

Regular programing

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.

We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.

You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give

If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 9:30am QLD and 10:30am NSW.

Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina and Victor + Bump.
