Dear Border Church Family,

This week we are in our regular venue at the CWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta (next to the Pink Hotel). Parking is available on Griffith and Boundary streets and Marine Pde. There is also parking under or next to Twin Towns if it is really busy on the street.

Border Church this week

This week we will be continuing our new Discipleship push for the year. I will be creating a page on our border.church website very soon which will be updated weekly with the discipleship curriculum we are going through if you would like to follow along. This week we will continue looking at Jesus as the disciple maker and movement builder. We are going to jump right into it and we will need to start on time, so please aim to be there at 10:30am NSW, 9:30am QLD. As it is still holidays for many, I recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to get a park.

Our new series begins this week on "Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence" with a look at the Lord's Prayer. If you have any favourite prayers from the Bible, please let us know and we will consider them for this series.

We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. This week we will be doing a pot luck lunch and all are welcome to join us. Feel free to bring your own favourite veggie dish or dessert. We look forward to spending this family time with you.

Last week, due to the suicide of one of my very close friends, we had a raw and open discussion on grief, death, suicide and the love of God. This seemed to have really struck a nerve in the community out there as usually my videos get about 200-400 views on Facebook. Last week's video has had almost 2000 views on Facebook. If you would like to view this or share it with others who it might benefit, it is now uploaded to YouTube and can be found below:

News and Upcoming events

Our vision team meeting scheduled for this week has been postponed. We will advise of a new date soon.

Our next social Sunday Funday is planned for Sunday January 29. These are great opportunities to invite people to who might not be ready to come to Church. You can arrive and leave at any time during the morning and enjoy the pool, spa, putt putt, etc It also allows for anyone who plans to attend King Jesus Church in the afternoon that they can do so (2pm at Tugun Community Centre).

There is a free community information session on disaster recovery being hosted by the Red Cross on Friday, February 3 between 2-4pm NSW time at the Tweed Civic Centre on Wharf Street. If you would like to be better prepared for serving our community when the unthinkable happens, please book your place today

King Jesus Church is having a prayer and worship on Friday February 3 at 6:30pm-7:30pm Qld time at the Tugun Community Centre.

Our next Church in the Park is tentatively scheduled for Saturday February 4.

Regular programing

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.

We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.

You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give

If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at 9:30am QLD and 10:30am NSW.

Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina and Victor + Bump.
