Dear Border Church Family,

Wow, I cannot believe it is already halfway through 2023! What an amazing year we have had so far. Yes, there are always trials, but God is Faithful! Things are coming together well and we have so many amazing things to look forward to in the second half of this year. Alina and I are so blessed and grateful for the support of everyone at Border Church and our partners in ministry around the region.

A big thank you for those who came last week to wish happy birthday to Alina and Levon. They really appreciated the love!

This week we will be having Church in our regular venue at the QCWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta. Parking can be found on Griffith and Boundary Streets as well as on Marine Parade. For shaded parking you can park under Twin Towns. We will be meeting at 10am and look forward to spending time with you.

Border Church this week

This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence and will look at a prayer that takes place in the period of the Judges, but the timing of which is not quite known - The Prayer of Jabez. I am excited to share this as a personal challenge for the second half of 2023 as we press onward and upward.

This week we are having Cafe-Style Church. We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. We will be having soups and stews lunch. Our lunch schedule can be found here - https://border.church/pages/church-luncheons-roster

This weekend

This Friday we will be joining in with the combined Churches youth for the final program for this term. It is a kids and parents "BBQ Bonanza" and excellent to bring people to for the first time. If you have young ones who are in grades 4-9 this is the ages this program will largely cater to. Older youth are also encouraged to come and be mentored into leading out. These youth nights are held at the Tweed Presbyterian Church Hall at 18 Florence St, Tweed Heads.

There is a Murwillumbah Combined Churches evening service this Sunday July 2 at 6pm at Murwillumbah Baptist Church, 10 Eveleigh St, Murwillumbah

News

We have some exciting guests coming to bless us in July and August as Alina will be out of commission after Erina arrives and Brendan will be taking lighter duties to help out with the baby.

  • On July 15 we will have Matt French from King Jesus/Worship Studio Church delivering a message to us for my first week off.
  • On July 22, we will have Hayden Wiseman joining us for Church and are planning some concerts throughout the weekend.
  • On August 5 we will have Organic Naturopath Monica Shepherd who will be speaking in the morning on what the Bible says about Health and Wellness and in the afternoon is going to speak about Nutrition Hacks for Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Abundance.

  • Also in August we have our friends Jessie Skelley from the Tweed Church of Christ and Phil Coates from Murwillumbah Baptist Church.
  • On August 26 we will be having a speaker from Creation Ministries International speak at Border Church in the morning and afternoon. I am super excited for this event!

In August, the Pacific Coast Christian School is putting on a musical based on the works of Dr Seuss - Dr Seussical the Musical. Tickets will be on sale soon, but please consider setting aside the date to support the school.

Carly Fletcher is a Christian musician with a passion for sharing the gospel through song. She is working on her fourth studio album of original music and is over halfway towards her fundraising goal. Carly will be coming to Border Church soon to bless us with her music, and we are just looking at locking in a date. If you would like to support Carly's ministry, you can do so at https://gofund.me/1d84b541

This week, I recorded my fourth radio podcast with Juice 107.3's 'The Punchline' and this will air in a couple of weeks. This one was on Church History from 500 A.D-100 AD. covering the beginnings of the Dark Ages and the millennial expectation of Christ's return, with lessons for the Gold Coast-Tweed in 2023. Past shows can be found on the links below:

What does the Bible Say About Food?

Denominational Differences and Sheep Stealing

I am almost finished putting together songbooks for Border Church. If you have any favourite hymns, praise or scripture songs you would like to nominate to be in them, please let me know ASAP. Inclusion will depend on the complexity of the song and whether it fits the criteria of a worship song, but we hope to include as many favourite worship songs as possible.

Healthy Cooking

Our two Healthy Cooking classes the few couple weeks have been a great success. We are partnering with the QCWA and Country Kitchens. We have a couple more spots if you know anyone who would be interested for next Tuesday. To register, please contact 0421 074 460.

Sealed & Revealed - Heralds of the Messiah

This is a new interactive discipleship series that will run over a few months looking at prophecies pointing to the coming Messiah and showing that Jesus of Nazareth was the promised Messiah. Through key passages, we will also lay the groundwork for understanding how prophecy works, types of prophecy, and the themes, principles and methods of interpretation. We will run classes online in two time slots. For registration please contact Brendan on 0421074460.

Timeslot 1: Mondays 7pm, beginning Monday May 15.

Timeslot 2: Wednesdays 6pm beginning Wednesday May 17.

The Zoom link for both classes will be - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095

If you would like to catch up on previous studies, recorded sessions can be found on the secret YouTube playlist here:

YouTube Sermons

Since we moved to our new residence, I have been behind on uploading our sermons to YouTube each week. We are looking at options to simulcast our worship services on both Facebook and YouTube in the near future.

Media Ministry Progress

Today we just received our high quality desk for the media ministry. We are close to being ready for full production, hopefully by the time we are done with the first couple months with baby Erina. I will probably start putting some smaller stuff out soon for proof of concept.

Regular events

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.

We run Alpha small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 3pm at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.

You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 10am.
