Dear Border Church Family,
This week we will be having Church in our regular venue at the QCWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta. Parking can be found on Griffith and Boundary Streets as well as on Marine Parade. For shaded parking you can park under Twin Towns. We will be meeting at 10am and look forward to spending time with you.
This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence and will look at the last of the Judges - Samuel. This is part 2 of our miniseries on the two Sam's - Samson and Samuel. Samuel has a lot of aspects to his story that are directly opposite that of Samson
This week we are having Cafe-Style Church. We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. We will be having pot luck lunch. Our lunch schedule can be found here - https://border.church/pages/church-luncheons-roster
We are having a vision team meeting this Sunday at 11am. Our team meetings are open to all who wish to have a voice. This meeting will be held at The Glebe.
On Sunday afternoon we are having a Combined Churches thanksgiving praise session for God's blessings through the Tent of Promise hosted by Kingdom Life Church at St Joseph's High School, Banora Point. This is open to all and we would love to see you all there.
We have some exciting guests coming to bless us in July and August as Alina will be out of commission after Erina arrives and Brendan will be taking lighter duties to help out with the baby.
A few weeks ago, I recorded my third radio podcast with Juice 107.3's 'The Punchline'. This one on Early Church History and lessons for the Gold Coast-Tweed in 2023. This aired last Sunday and you can listen to it on the website below. I will also include the last two shows I have recorded with other ministers on the Gold Coast.
Early Church History and Lessons for 2023
What does the Bible Say About Food?
Denominational Differences and Sheep Stealing
I am almost finished putting together songbooks for Border Church. If you have any favourite hymns, praise or scripture songs you would like to nominate to be in them, please let me know ASAP. Inclusion will depend on the complexity of the song and whether it fits the criteria of a worship song, but we hope to include as many favourite worship songs as possible. (There are many great Christian ballads out there, but we are focusing on songs we can sing in worship.)
Healthy Cooking
Our two Healthy Cooking classes the last couple weeks have been a great success. We are partnering with the QCWA and Country Kitchens. We have a couple more spots if you know anyone who would be interested for the next two Tuesdays. To register, please contact 0421 074 460.
Sealed & Revealed - Heralds of the Messiah
This is a new interactive discipleship series that will run over a few months looking at prophecies pointing to the coming Messiah and showing that Jesus of Nazareth was the promised Messiah. Through key passages, we will also lay the groundwork for understanding how prophecy works, types of prophecy, and the themes, principles and methods of interpretation. We will run classes online in two time slots. For registration please contact Brendan on 0421074460.
Timeslot 1: Mondays 7pm, beginning Monday May 15.
Timeslot 2: Wednesdays 6pm beginning Wednesday May 17.
The Zoom link for both classes will be - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095
If you would like to catch up on previous studies, recorded sessions can be found on the secret YouTube playlist here:
Since we moved to our new residence, I have been behind on uploading our sermons to YouTube each week. This is now all caught up and the current playlist can be found below. We are looking at options to simulcast our worship services on both Facebook and YouTube in the near future.
If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.
We run Alpha small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.
Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 3pm at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.
You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give
If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 10am.
Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina, Victor and Erina
