Dear Border Church Family,

This week we will be having Church in our regular venue at the QCWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta. Parking can be found on Griffith and Boundary Streets as well as on Marine Parade. For shaded parking you can park under Twin Towns. We will be meeting at 10am and look forward to spending time with you. We welcome members of our sister church, King Jesus who will join us while that Church transitions to a new season.

Border Church this week

This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence and will look at the story of Jephthah and his rash vow. This is often a puzzling story because Jephthah is listed in the honour roll in Hebrews 11. The title of this sermon will be "Be Careful What you Pray for".

This week we are having Cafe-Style Church. We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. We will be having Indian themed food this week. Soup and stews will be next week. Our lunch schedule can be found here - https://border.church/pages/church-luncheons-roster

Next Week - Cooly Rocks Evangelism

Next Saturday, June 10, we will hold Border Church at 10am at the Tent of Promise evangelism tent next to Twin Towns. If you want to park further away and would like a lift to the meeting, please message me and we will have you on our list. We are going to have an extra special treat for our Saturday morning service! Our favourite violinist, Hayden Wiseman, will be giving a sacred concert on the Saturday morning. He has released a new album since the last time we hosted him and we are so excited to see him. If you would like to listen to some of Hayden's music, please see his YouTube chanel below:

God has worked mightily this last week. Behind the scenes, we had several hurdles with getting the Tent of Promise final approval for the Cooly Rocks weekend. I am pleased to say that God came through. We have approval for the full Tent of Promise for Thursday - Sunday. This will be located near the War Memorial, alongside Twin Towns.

We are seeking volunteers to be trained on how to lead people around the Tent of Promise which features artwork depicting the Biblical story. Trainings will be held:

  • This Sunday June 4 at 1pm at St Joseph's High School, 2 Doyle Street, Banora Point, and;
  • This Monday night, June 5 at 7pm at Tweed Heads Presbyterian Church, 18 Florence Street, Tweed Heads.
  • There is also a prayer and worship night to intercede for the evangelism to be held at 7pm this Wednesday June 7 at Tweed Heads Presbyterian Church, 18 Florence Street, Tweed Heads.

There will be evangelistic meetings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings with powerful local evangelists. Friday will be a youth-focused evangelism.

There will be combined Church services on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Border Church is hosting the Saturday morning service, as mentioned above.

Hayden Wiseman is also playing for the Tweed Heads Presbyterian Church on Sunday Morning, June 11, as well as items during the evening evangelistic meetings.

News

I am currently putting together songbooks for Border Church. If you have any favourite hymns, praise or scripture songs you would like to nominate to be in them, please let me know. Inclusion will depend on the complexity of the song and whether it fits the criteria of a worship song, but we hope to include as many favourite worship songs as possible. (There are many great Christian ballads out there, but we are focusing on songs we can sing in worship.)

Last weekend was a spiritual high day for the National Day of Prayer and Fasting. We had 12 other Churches join us either leading out or sending representatives. A huge shout out to the Churches that participated: Border Church, Ganggalah Church, Joy Network, King Jesus, Kingdom Life Church, Living Temple Christian Church, Living Waters Church, Newlife Coolangatta, The Gathering, Tweed Church of Christ, Tweed Heads Presbyterian Church, Tweed Salvos, Vibe Church. Special big thank you to Vibe Church for providing a beautiful venue for the program!

If you would like to see the worship from a few of weeks ago at King Jesus Church at Tugun where I preached the message "Run into the Fire" you can find it here:

YouTube Sermons

Since we moved to our new residence, I have been behind on uploading our sermons to YouTube each week. This is now all caught up and the current playlist can be found below. We are looking at options to simulcast our worship services on both Facebook and YouTube in the near future.

Regular programing

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.

We run Alpha small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 3pm at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.

You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give

If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 10am.

Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina, Victor and Erina
