Dear Border Church Family,
This week we will be having Church in our regular venue at the QCWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta. Parking can be found on Griffith and Boundary Streets as well as on Marine Parade. For shaded parking you can park under Twin Towns. We will be meeting at 10am and look forward to spending time with you.
This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence and will look at the story of Gideon and his conversations with God. What does it mean to Fleece God? Is this something we should do? This story of Gideon also shows us what our focus should be on (P.S. it isn't numbers).
We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. We will be having Poke Bowls on special request as we celebrate a special milestone for one of our family. Soup and stews will now be next week. Our lunch schedule can be found here - https://border.church/pages/church-luncheons-roster
On Sunday afternoon we are joining with other Churches in this area for a Combined Church service. We hosted the last service in February and this time King Jesus Church will be hosting at the Tugun Community Centre, 414 Coolangatta Road, Tugun. Pastor Michael Boyd from the Tweed Presbyterian Church will be speaking on the tantalising topic of "The Call of the Groom". I will be leading out in communion beforehand. Please come and support this unity of the saints and meet others who love to serve God.
If you would like to see the worship from a couple of weeks ago at King Jesus Church at Tugun where I preached the message "Run into the Fire" you can find it here:
I am currently putting together songbooks for Border Church. If you have any favourite hymns, praise or scripture songs you would like to nominate to be in them, please let me know. Inclusion will depend on the complexity of the song and whether it fits the criteria of a worship song, but we hope to include as many favourite worship songs as possible. (There are many great Christian ballads out there, but we are focusing on songs we can sing in worship.)
May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month. We will be specially praying over our community in regards to this space during the month of May.
May 27 is the National Day of Prayer and Fasting. Border Church will be hosting a combined Churches service this day as part of this national initiative. Due to the unavailability of our regular meeting place at the QCWA Hall we will be meeting a few streets over at Vibe Church. If you go to other Churches in our area, please invite your leaders to join with us on this day as we pray over our community.
During Cooly Rocks On, Churches in our area have invited the Tent of Promise to set up as a means of witnessing and leading people to Christ. The theme will be Jesus Rocks On. On the evenings of June 8-11 local evangelists will speak and there is opportunity to volunteer during the days in leading people around the tent, sharing Jesus with them. Training will be held the week before and these details will come soon.
Due to the unavailability of our Church during Cooly Rocks weekend, we will also hold our Saturday service at the Tent of Promise. We are looking at a shuttle service to help people who have to park far away so they can make it. Parking may be available on side streets so please plan to be there. We will have Classical Violinist Hayden Wiseman for the weekend and he will play during our Service as well as leading out in other Churches in the area over the weekend.

Since we moved to our new residence, I have been behind on uploading our sermons to YouTube each week. This is now all caught up and the current playlist can be found below. We are looking at options to simulcast our worship services on both Facebook and YouTube in the near future.
If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.

If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 10am.
Blessings
love
