Dear Border Church Family,
This week we are in our regular venue at the CWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta (next to the Pink Hotel). Parking is available on Griffith and Boundary streets and Marine Pde. There is also parking under or next to Twin Towns if it is really busy on the street.
It breaks my heart to inform everyone that Pastor Fomai Mohn, who has been a close friend to Alina and I over the last year, passed away this morning. I would ask if we as a Church could keep his family in our prayers.
This week we will be continuing our new Discipleship push for the year. Last week was an introduction to the Great Commission. I will be creating a page on our border.church website very soon which will be updated weekly with the discipleship curriculum we are going through if you would like to follow along. This week we will be looking at Jesus as the disciple maker and movement builder. We are going to jump right into it and we will need to start on time, so please aim to be there at 10:30am NSW, 9:30am QLD. As it is still holidays for many, I recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to get a park.
Our new series begins this week on "Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence" with a look at the Lord's Prayer. If you have any favourite prayers from the Bible, please let us know and we will consider them for this series.
We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. This week we will be having poke bowls and all are welcome to join us. We look forward to spending this family time with you.
Last week we concluded our series on John 3:16 and if you missed any of these studies, you can find the entire playlist below:
Our next vision team meeting is at 2:30pm (NSW time) on Sunday, January 22 at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point.
Our next social Sunday Funday is tentatively planned for Sunday January 29. More details to come next week.
If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.
We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.
Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.
You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give
If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 9:30am QLD and 10:30am NSW.
Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina and Victor + Bump.
