Dear Border Church Family,

This week we will be having Church in our regular venue at the QCWA Hall at 169 Griffith Street, Coolangatta. Parking can be found on Griffith and Boundary Streets as well as on Marine Parade. For shaded parking you can park under Twin Towns. We will be meeting at 9:30am QLD time/10:30am NSW time and look forward to spending time with you.

Border Church this week

This week we will begin with some testimony time for what God has been doing in our lives so far this year.

This week for our message we will be continuing our series on Prayers of Power: Unlocking Omnipotence by looking at God's response to Job's prayers. What happens when God shows up.

We always have a healthy vegetarian fellowship lunch after Church. This week we will be having a potluck lunch, and afterwards we will reveal the gender of our baby as well as a celebration for Victor's second birthday.

Starting next week, we will be meeting at 10am once more with the ending of Daylight Savings and the return to sanity for our Border region.

Invitation from our hosts at QCWA

The lovely ladies at the QCWA are extending an invitation and special offer for anyone who would like to join the QCWA Coolangatta branch. Join now for an extra 3 months membership from April 1 through to next June 30, 2024. The fee is only $40 with the Coolangatta branch subsidising the balance of the $77 fee. Membership offers opportunity for networking and meeting new people in our area and getting involved in community projects. We will be partnering with the CWA for things such as cooking classes in the near future, so it would be great if any of you would like to join them. You can find the sign up sheet attached here - QCWA Membership Form.

News

If you didn't catch the episode of The Punchline last Sunday evening where the topic was "Biblical Food Laws", you can hear the rerun online. The podcast includes a segment cut from the radio broadcast discussing Acts 10 and 15. You can listen to this program at the following link:

Many Churches are having Palm Sunday events on, so feel free to attend any of these events, but note that the time reverts back to normal this Sunday for those in NSW.

Easter services

This coming week is full of Passover and Easter events that may be a blessing to you or an opportunity for us to connect with others in our community who are running programs. On Saturday April 8 at Border Church we will be looking at the Song of Moses during the Exodus which was a type of what Jesus accomplished on the Cross.

Tuesday April 4.
5:15PM - Banora Point Jehovah's Witnesses
6:45PM - Kingscliff Jehovah's Witnesses
8:15PM - Tweed Jehovah's Witnesses

Note: All these meetings are at the Kingdom Hall at Piggabeen Rd, Tweed Heads West. The Jehovah's Witnesses are an extremely isolationist sect and Easter/Passover is a time of year they are the most welcoming. This is an opportunity to share the love of God to a group that is lacking in a lot of the details of the Gospel. This is an outreach opportunity. If you have any questions about the teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses and where they conflict with the Scripture, please feel free to contact me.

Friday April 7 - Good Friday
9AM - Tweed Salvos
Saturday April 8 - Easter Saturday
10AM - Border Church
6PM - St Ksenia's Russian Orthodox, Tweed
Sunday April 9 - Easter Sunday
5:45AM - Combined Beachside, Reedy Creek Baptist, Tweed Hub Sunrise at Currumbin Beach
6AM - Tweed Salvos Sunrise
9-10AM start - Various Churches
2PM - King Jesus
5PM - Easter United - Broadwater Parklands

I highly recommend going to whatever events you are free for so you can meet and network with other Christians.

Please be safe on the roads over the holiday period as it can be dangerous. We are praying for safe travels for all who are taking time away.

Sowing Season: Autumn 2023

After Easter, we will be launching our first Sowing Season. Every Autumn and Spring we will have seasons of sowing into the community. For our first season, we will be running an Alpha Course, Car Basics, ESL (English as a Second Language) Essentials, Healthy Cooking, Depression and Anxiety Recovery and Sewing Alterations short courses. These will be opportunities for meeting people in the community and growing relationships with them. Please get involved with supporting one or more of these offerings through attendance, inviting people to attend and helping out.

Regular programing

If you or anyone you know would like to start a Discovery Bible Reading group, we would be happy to equip and support you in this. We will be teaching how to do these from this week. It really is very simple.

We run I AM small groups on a regular basis and if you would like help hosting one for your friends or loved ones to discover Jesus and the basics of the Bible, please let us know.

Prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:30pm QLD/3:30pm NSW at 179 Botanical Circuit, Banora Point. Please message me or speak to Lorraine if you have any prayer requests we can add to our list. You can join this prayer meeting through zoom with the link - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81584149095. All are welcome to join as we pray for our community and upcoming projects.

You can contribute towards our community outreach in our tithes and offerings box or online through various options on our website at https://border.church/give

If you would like to give to our building upgrade fund, please mark your offering for this purpose. We will be sharing in some of the costs of upgrading the CWA hall so that we can have some dedicated storage for Border Church as well as insulation to reduce some of the noise and echo in the hall.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at 9:30am QLD and 10:30am NSW.

Blessings
love
Brendan, Alina and Victor + Bump.
